Chishtian is an administrative sub-division (tehsil) of District Bhawalnagar. It is located 140 kilometers in north-east of Bahawalpur and 46 kilometers in south-west of Bahawalnagar on the left bank of river Sutlej. The economy of Tehsil Chishtian is mainly based on agriculture. The Grain Market of Chishtian is a business hub of the area. Chishtian is surrounded by small industries and many agricultural farms. The popular crops of this area are Wheat and cotton. However, Sugarcane and Corn are also grown in minor quantities in Chishtian. Guava and Citrus are main fruits grown in this area. In addition to the above mentioned fruits Mango, Banana, Peaches, etc are also grown in minor quantities. A sugar mill, a paper mill, many cotton factories and few flour mills are running in Tehsil Chishtian.

The people of Chishtian having industrial and agricultural background felt a dire need of an institution that could produce qualified graduates to uplift the flourishing local enterprises. There was not any institution to meet these locally emerging challenges. Keeping in view the above referred scenario, the management of Punjab Colleges, established a college at Chishtian. The campus is located on Bhawalnagar Road and conveniently accessible not only to the students coming from the main town but also from the adjoining villages. The college building is spacious, purpose built, air-conditioned and provides a congenial teaching-learning environment. There are fully equipped Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer laboratories to strengthen the practical skills of the students.
