The word Chiniot comprises two Punjabi words, 'Chan' and 'Ote', translates as 'Behind the moon without light'. Until 2009 Chiniot was a Tehsil of District Jhang  but lateron, it was promoted to the level of a District. It is located on left bank of the Chenab River on the Sargodha – Faisalabad road. Chiniot comprises many towns and villages. Most of the villages are in the form of “Chaks”. A chak is a village planned and established by English Engineers during the colonial period. The villages were mostly planned along canal bank for even distribution of population. The lands are highly fertile and main crops of this area are sugarcane, wheat and cotton. Chiniot is world famous for its exotically carved and brightly lacquered furniture. Chinioti craftsmen and artisans have for centuries carved flowers and geometric patterns on the cellulose fibers. Despite the technical knowledge and century old traditions employed in woodcarving, the government has not been able to promote and exploit its marketing. Masson from Chiniot are thought to have been involved in the construction of historical Taj Mahal and Golden Temple, both now in India.

Unfortunately, there was no standard institution of the kind that could meet the present day growing challenges in the field of Commerce, Science and Technology. Consequently, the management of Punjab Colleges established its Chiniot Campus. The campus is purpose built and located in the lush green pollution free area in front of the Canal. It is affiliated with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Faisalabad. All class rooms are air-conditioned and nicely

furnished. There are well-equipped Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer laboratories for imparting sound practical knowledge in these subjects. Teaching of mathematics and all science subjects is facilitated by three dimensional content-based animations to develop the concept-based learning habits. The college library has a rich stock of latest books and research material to develop the reading habits of our students. The faculty is highly skilled and committed to the cause of quality education.
